Miyagawa Dam Lake

The Miyagawa Dam, completed in 1957, is the oldest dam in Mie prefecture which has the largest reservoir in the prefecture. The Osugidani Valley has had the highest average rainfall in Japan and the Miya river had widely been feared as a monster river because it often broke the banks. The dam was constructed solely for the purpose of flood control and electric power.
